The book has an unusual plot it's about a poor, uneducated, orphan teen who somehow answers all 12 questions on the Indian version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire". Immediately after winning he is thrown in jail, accused of cheating. The book follows chapter by chapter how he acquired the knowledge of answering each question correctly. it is a fast and entertaining read.

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

This is one of favorite love story. It shows what true soul mates are. I think that you can love someone like ally did the lawyer, but only true love with your soul mate like with Noah. This book is simple yet heart rendering love story. It will make you smile and cry often. It is about the belief that true love never dies or dims, it remains with you through the thick and thins of life.

A few of my favorite quotes from the book:

"I am a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough."

"We sit silently and watch the world around us. This has taken a lifetime to learn. It seems only the old are able to sit next to one another and not say anything and still feel content. The young, brash and impatient, must always break the silence. It is a waste, for silence is pure. Silence is holy. It draws people together because only those who are comfortable with each other can sit without speaking."

I've uploaded the pdf version of this book here

Cage Life by Karin Cox

Cage Life, by Karin Cox, is a beautifully written book comprised of two short stories. The first story is about a young mom who feels like a prisoner in her own home after having a child and leaving her job and the second centers around an old person Basil and  his love for a younger woman. It's a short story.

I must say Karin Cox has done an excellent job in expressing various human emotions in just few words.I would certainly recommend this book.

Sidney Sheldon has been one among st  my favorite authors , I've always loved his work, I recently read "Tell me your dreams" and was completely engrossed in it. i started this book on Friday and was done reading in two days .I just couldn't keep the book down.
"Tell Me Your Dreams." This novel tells the story of 3 women - Ashley, Toni and Alette - all of whom are suspected of committing a series of brutal murders. The truths begin to unfold resulting in a suspensful, engrossing read. The pages rapidly turn while the heart beats quickly. This is Mr. Sheldon as he shows us he can create well-developed characters and surprising plot developments. Once again I am looking forward to the next Sidney Sheldon novel.

My Kindle

I Love to read books, so having an e reader was one of my desires. After reading lot about various e readers watching numerous videos , reviews asking my friends understanding difference between wi-fi and 3g-wifi. I finally decided on buying a kindle 3g wifi.

Again I had one more choice to decide on what color, graphite or white .white or graphite after breaking my head so much on it (I liked both) I decided to buy the white one.I was elated once I laid my hands my brand new Kindle :) , was looking for various books to read, there are so many free classics and many more books it's absolute fun for any book reader.

But Today Amazon came out with touchscreen Kindle and its just a little over a month since my purchase .I really wished I should have delayed my purchase then probably I would have been having my kindle touchscreen :(
I called up Amazon so as to see if I can return my current device and upgrade to the new touchscreen but the answer was negative as it was past one month since I purchased my e reader.

Now I just stay with my current kindle and use it for a while and then probably I can upgrade to a newer one.
But I love my Kindle :)

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

I picked up this book to read as I had heard so much about it and it's one of the American classics and they have even made an movie out of this book.I won't call this book as one of favorites, I just found it ok to read.

This story is about a fictional small town in Alabama, it talks about southern county. Scout and her brother Jem are raised by their widowed father Atticus and their housekeeper, Calpurnia. Their summers are consumed by grand plans to lure the recluse Arthur “Boo” Radley out of his spooky home. The ladies meet for missionary teas  As the story progresses, it reveals ignorance, fear, hypocrisy and prejudice.Atticus Finch is called on to defend Tom Robinson, a black man accused of raping a white girl, Mayella Ewell. He is eventually found guilty and, “tired of taking white man’s chances”, attempts to escape and is shot to death. The good thing about this story is where author  shows that everyone is human and multi-faceted. Mayella is a pitiful figure, driven by loneliness and abuse; Mrs Dubose, a bigot who screams insults at the Finches, is also a courageous woman who kicks her morphine addict and dies.

Windmills of the Gods by Sidney Sheldon

I completed Windmills of the Gods  yesterday it is another exciting plot by  Sidney Sheldon, fast paced,  it has a gripping story at its heart that keeps the reader on their chair's edge until the end. For once the phrase 'a page turner' comes true.
I loved everything from start to finish. The Book is about a lady is Mary Ashley, a professor of Eastern European studies at Kansas State University and mother of two whose husband is a doctor, she is appointed as United States ambassador to an Iron Curtain country. when she refuses the offer her husband gets killed in an accident so she ends up taking the post. She is marked for destruction by unseen and powerful enemies.
Alone and a stranger in a foreign country, Mary Ashley finds herself involved with two dynamic men: Mike Slade, a tough career diplomat who is her deputy chief of mission; and Louis Desforges, a doctor attached to the French embassy. But soon she comes to believe that one of them is out to kill her.
The last chapters were the most intersting, the climax having a lot of unexpected twits and turns.I liked the last sentence"he looked into her eyes and said softly,"Coffee?"

If Tomorrow Comes by Sidney Sheldon

One more Sidney Sheldon :) .This one is my third book in a row written by the author and its again an impressive story .
One of the BEST books that I have ever read. Completely unpredictable, It was a wonderful story about a young woman who was enjoying life with a good job and a wealthy fiance, her world turns upside down because of a  wrongfully convicted of a crime and is put in jail, she later gets released and turns to stealing from wealthy people. She fools people, bluffs rich personalities and and robs them out of their most valuable possessions and finds love in the most unlikely place. This book was definitely a roller coaster for me.It keeps you on the edge till the very end, I loved the book but was afraid it might have a bad ending. I just couldn't imagine a good one but the ending was more awesome than I could have asked for.

This was a sweet little story. Burgundy Bedford is arranged to marry Lord Nicholas Mountjoy, Earl of Devon by the queen. Instead of marrying him, however, she plans to run away with a spy of all people. But when her Nan gives her a book that was passed down her mother's line for generations Burgundy decides to do the honorable thing and follow the queen's orders. She figures she would be doomed to a loveless marriage for the rest of her life, but she is surprised as her course of life is altered forever. It would have been a good, long book, as it is, it turned out to be an ok short.

2 states: the story of my marriage by Chetan Bhagat

2 states: the story of my marriage is light and easy read.Another book from Chetan Bhagat and he has done a good job in telling the story, in his own free-floating manner. Somehow, I could feel a connection with the book, owning to my Punjabi background. I could closely relate to routine incidents as  the lavish fat ceremonies, the expectations from children. The incidents have been narrated in an amusing manner.

2 States begins where Five Point Someone ends. After  IIT where he loves and loses the professor’s daughter – Krish ( Punjabi guy from Delhi ) meets  Ananya South Indian Tamilian Brahmin girl ) at  IIM-A to pursue his management studies.
They both fall in love with each other but when they decide to get married problems starts rising as they both are from different cultural backgrounds so its a difficult task to convince their respective families. But eventually they do get their approvals and are married off to a wonderful life ahead.

The book is filled with loads of laughter and light moments. I will surely recommend this book , it might me just an ordinary love story but the way of presentation is what makes its unique and fun read.

Five Point Someone: What Not to Do at IIT by Chetan Bhagat

Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat is easy and fun to read book.
I  read this  long back and thought of including a review of it here. I had finished it in a day , was so addictive and I was so curious  as to know  what will happen next.I did see 3 idiots  which is film adaptation of this book and found that book was better than the film.

The book is about  3 freshers at  at  IIT, Hari ,Ryan and Alok who happen to become best buddies, all three of them are from different backgrounds and stick to each other in all ups and downs during their stay at the institute, their five-point something GPAs come in the way of everything-their friendship, their love life, their future.

The book is a funny  narration of college student's life on exams, warden, love, sex and almost everything that a student would encounter during his/her college days. This is fun to read, it might remind you of your college days :)I would definitely recommend this book.
